AtYourGate is an on-demand in-airport delivery service based in California. The startup was founded by entrepreneur and frequent traveler PJ Mastracchio, who wanted to create a more efficient way to get food in between flights. AtYourGate delivers food and travel essentials to travelers and airport staff via an app, anywhere within the airport. AtYourGate first launched at the San Diego International Airport in May 2018.

With availability at just one airport in early 2018, AtYourGate was a new business looking to build credibility and launch in other markets. And as a disruptor in the on-demand economy creating a new industry within airport travel, AtYourGate was challenged with educating traveling consumers and airports throughout the country about the benefits of their service.
AtYourGate chose Crowe PR to build brand awareness, establish credibility among travelers, maximize publicity in new markets and drive user downloads and orders.
The Crowe PR team conducted competitive research to better understand the on-demand economy and airport innovation and get a better sense of traveler and staff pain points with airport dining.
We deployed a comprehensive media relations plan with timely, creative angles tied to airport launches to spotlight AtYourGate’s growth and entrance to new markets: LaGuardia, JFK, Newark, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Portland. For each launch, Crowe PR distributed press releases and media advisories announcing each market’s AtYourGate app launch to a targeted media list of national and regional print, online and broadcast outlets. We also partnered with the communication/PR team at each airport to determine press release distribution and align on key messaging. In conjunction with the launches, Crowe PR incorporated industry-related speaking points to position the client as a credible thought leader that could speak to airport and travel trends and services.
After AtYourGate launched in San Diego, Crowe PR helped to position AtYourGate as a successful example of the San Diego airport’s innovation program and the gold standard in-airport delivery provider in less than a year. Secured media coverage broke through the competitor landscape, with AtYourGate dominating share of voice. Notable feature coverage included the Today Show, Cheddar, Fast Company, USA Today, CNBC, Travel + Leisure, Forbes and more.
Crowe PR’s efforts also played a role in diversifying the company’s offerings – AtYourGate now delivers beer, wine and travel items at select airport locations. The successful campaign also attracted new investor interest and future business partnerships with key airports such as Boston Logan and Ontario International Airports.
